

There are a variety of content types to choose from, but knowing how many numbers versus letters you can use, isn’t always clear.
There are 4 content types available for most vehicles.
This is where the RTA automatically generates a combination of letters and numbers for you.

But, just because you have a standard plate, doesn’t mean you have to look like everyone else. Standard plates can come in a variety of colours, so have a look through the selection available and take your pick. These plates are available over the counter at RTA Motor Registries and participating new car dealers for new registrations. If you already have Standard Content number plates and want to give the original yellow plate the flick, you can restyle your plate into a new colour with no annual fee!

The name says it all. This section allows you to fully personalise your plate by not restricting you to a combination format. Here you can choose a combination of letters and numbers up to six characters for cars, and five for motorcycles. All you need to do is make sure you include at least one letter (excluding the letters I and O). Here are some examples:
