Numeral Only plates were first issued in 1910 as general issue plates and ceased to be issued in 1937. Since then they have only been available through auction or private sale.

These distinctive plates represent a significant investment opportunity. The highest price paid for a numeral only vehicle plate at an RTA auction was $140,000 in 2007 for the plate ‘228’

Shannons has once again been chosen by the RTA to conduct this major plate auction because of their expertise in valuing and selling number plates in New South Wales and Victoria over the past 25 years.

This auction will consist of 49 Numeral Only vehicle plates ranging between 3, 4 and 5 digits.

And for the first time, bidders will have the opportunity to bid for a 1 x 4 digit plate and/or 2 x 5 digit plates of their choosing.

Also, for the first time, a rare numeral only plate will be auctioned in hot pink. The RTA will donate 25% of the auction price to the McGrath Foundation* and Shannons will waive their commission.

*The McGrath Foundation supports breast care nurses in rural and regional Australia and educates young women to be breast aware. Proceeds raised from his fundraising appeal will be spent by the McGrath Foundation in NSW only.
